Reflections

In reflecting back on my own month, I am making a committment to remember a few things:
1. The importance of treating staff well and giving them proper breaks and plenty of encouragement and positive feedback.
2. That I would rather do things ethically, safely and cleanly than save money. I am an avid recycler and composter and I try to make the cafe as environmentally friendly as possible. This is the planet we are talking about!
3. Rest and quiet time is essential for well being. Sometimes I have to stop myself and ask, "What is this for? Why am I rushing and panicking anyway? Things will get done. They always do."
4. Life does not always turn out as I think it's going to. Isn't there a saying or a quote, something like "God laughs at plans." ? This is so true, and as often as I think I know it, I forget it and start planning again.
5. Those who I attempt to avoid are often my greatest teachers
6. Organic chocolate cake is DELICIOUS!!!!!
Oh, and as Howard Schultz, CEO of Starbucks Coffee talks about in the book of the week, "Pour Your Heart Into It", passion is everything and " every experience prepares you for the next one. You just don't ever know what the next one is going to be."

I Reflect On My Discoveries

Today marks the final day of an entire month dedicated to honouring yourself. Perhaps this month has inspired you to honour yourself every day of your life. You are worth it, and the survival of the planet depends upon it. We are all teaching, all the time. Honouring ourselves teaches others to honour us, and shows them that they, too, can learn what we have learned.
Spend time reflecting on the past month. What have you discovered about yourself? What insights have you had through this process?
