I Find The Beauty In That Which I Dislike

It's easy to find the beauty in those things and people we consider beautiful, but what about those we dislike? Can we see the beauty in someone who we feel has done us wrong, someone whose very presence seems to create resistance and negative feelings within us? Can we find even one small thing about that person beautiful? Can we appreciate the beautiful gift this person may be giving us, the gift of bringing up our wounds for healing? What about other dislikes? Tuna fish sandwiches, screechy voices, elevator music, hairspray, unrecyclable plastics, dirty fingernails.... can we find the beauty where we tend to see only ugliness, in the places that we usually turn away from in disgust?

Consider some of the things or people you dislike or label as ugly. What would it be like to see the beauty that exists alongside this ugliness? Would it not be interesting to try?
