My Vulnerability Is Beautiful

Ah, to be vulnerable in a world that teaches us everything but. We are taught to be tough, to hold it all in, to suck it up, to present a perfectly "together" and outwardly strong picture of ourselves to others who may wish to know us. And so, when we meet another do they really see us, or are they relating with a mask, a false image, a facade? And from this manner of relating will they ever truly know us? What will it take to allow them to see behind the mask, into our wounded places and our hidden truths? If we cannot be vulnerable we will never connect with others from a place of heart and soul. Isn't it true that when another shares from his heart, opens up and allows his deepest richness to have a voice, we do not feel disgusted and wish to pull away as he may fear, but are instead brought closer to him? Vulnerability is indeed beautiful. Vulnerability requires trust and faith and a willingness to show up as we are, moment to moment. Go on, take off your mask! You may be pleasantly surprised at what you discover.

Allow yourself to be vulnerable with another today. Tell that person how you're feeling or share somthing from your heart. Notice what happens between you. Do you feel closer to that person, or further away?
